Memorial Day

We had a great Memorial Day this year. We went up to Ogden with Nate's family to decorate the family graves. Then we went to a park for a picnic lunch.

Piper wore that hat for all of 5 min. It turned out to be the only time she left it on her head all summer.

Kadon's Dance Festival

It was pretty hot that day.

Kadon's second grade did dances to various versions of "Polly Wolly Doodle."

Kadon had to hold hands with a girl--he wasn't too excited about that.

The Dragon

Here is the dragon in all its glory.

A teacher held up the head, and then first graders held up the hula hoops in the body. Then the dragon wove through all the other first graders doing a Chinese ribbon dance.

Painting the Dragon

So Kadon's teacher from last year asked me if I could help her make a Chinese Dragon for her class to use for the dance festival. So true to form, I took that idea and went to town. Soon I was building a wire model for the teachers to paper mache, sewing sheets to hula hoops, and ironing on scales. Needless to say, the dragon became a much bigger project than she had envisioned, but we had a blast making it. Kyrie even got to help paint it.

PS: stay tuned for pictures of the finished project coming tomorrow!

Ariel has a tail

Kyrie's modeling her new swimming suit. Little did I know swimming suits would become Kyrie's summer uniform. She would often wear two or three different ones a day.

Piper and Kyrie "Up Here"

This balcony is Piper's favorite place to hang out. She just stands and yells at everyone downstairs. Kyrie decided she needed more screen time, so she jumped in too.

Brand New Cubscout

Kadon was very excited to start Scouts. He finished his Bobcat in his first month, and he's over half way done with his Wolf requirements. I think he makes a pretty spiffy scout.

Kadon's 8th Birthday Party

We had a family party that night. All of his grandparents were there. Nate got Kadon a Nerf Dart Gun Tag set. Kadon used his eye protection sunglasses from the set while he was blowing out the candle.

The next day we had some friends come to Chuck E Cheese.

Kadon and Tom took a ton of pictures on the Chuck E Cheese Car

Then we went back to our house for pizza and presents.

Piper joins in the mix.

Finding Easter Baskets

Kyrie had a good time finding her basket.

The Easter Bunny tricked Kadon, and it took him a long time to find his basket.

Piper the Pirate

New PJs

So Nate was on a two and a half week business trip at the end of March. He spent a couple days in Singapore and got the kids new pjs. Then he spent two weeks in Abu Dahbi. Here are the kids modeling their new sleepwear.

First Annual Family Valentine's Dinner

"First Annual" is my favorite oxymoron.

So I decided to start the tradition of a fancy Valentine's Dinner with our kids. We had bacon wrapped chicken, heart jello jigglers, sparkling cider, and other fun stuff. The kids got a Valentine book and a little frog Valentine. After the second cider spill, yelling kids, and crying babies, Nate was wondering why we were doing this. Traditions-was my reply.

Kyrie's 3rd Birthday

First we had a family party with both sets of grandparents. At this time Kyrie was still in her "No" phase. Luckily this phase didn't last too long.

Kyrie was pretty excited about her new dress. Unfortunately she hit a growth spurt and only fit in it for a month.

Kyrie basking in the joy of "Happy Birthday."

The next day Kyrie had her first friend birthday party. Everyone came dressed as a princess or prince. She talked about the party for months afterwards.

Yikes! I Need to Update!

So life got crazy and next thing I knew half a year had gone by. I'm going to try to post a new thing each day until I get caught up. So check back often!

Baby Face

Piper definitely has the cutest baby face. We get comments on it every time we take her out of the house.

Kyrie's 1st Haircut

"Sisters, Sisters, There were never such devoted sisters."

Kyrie and Piper smiling for the camera in their sleeper jammies. Kyrie loved that she was wearing pink and Piper had on purple.

The girls snuggle together to watch a show.
